The statutory representative of the city district is the mayor. The district administration includes the municipality and the district council, which are self-government authorities. All the representatives in these authorities are elected by the district’s citizens for four years.
The city district possesses its own property and financial sources which it administers independently in accordance with the conditions set by the law. Nevertheless, as one of the districts of the Capital City of Prague, it is peculiar in that the Capital City has the authority over certain spheres of economic activities and administration.
